Job Hunting? Are you covering all the right bases?

When it comes to starting the job hunting, it can be difficult to know where to look and how to start.

Here are some of the key places to search for opportunities for your next job.

Jobs Man
1. Jobs boards e.g. LinkedIn, Charity Jobs, Bright Network, Escape The City, Wired Sussex, Prospects, Indeed, TotalJobs (and many, many more!)
2. Company websites: look for a ‘work with us’ or ‘careers’ section on the website menu and follow them on LinkedIn.
3. Recruitment services (some specialise in placing graduates, some are industry-specific.)
4. Speculative applications – don’t wait for vacancies, some companies will consider candidates who approach them directly. It demonstrates iniative and enthusiasm!
5. Up your networking ante: spread the word and talk to everyone you can, ask questions and learn, recontact people who’ve helped or hired you in the past and ask for LinkedIn recommendations.
6. Keep on top of industry news and business developments that mean hiring is likely e.g. funding rounds, big contracts, new product launches (then approach speculatively).
