HelloGrads On The Road

We took HelloGrads on the road to spice up the traditional style of careers fairs!

In partnership with the University of Westminster, the ‘Creative Talent Festival’ showcased employers and students, putting preparation and inspiration firmly on the agenda alongside careers.

Our goal was to take the old format – a walk-around – and make it an interactive and inspiring experience that is engaging for students, graduates and employers.

There were CV workshops, discussion panels and speeches from entrepreneurs, freelancers, coaches and professionals. Experts taught soft-skills seminars on things like ‘what to do if you don’t know what to do’, networking and building a personal brand, time management, an introduction to mindfulness and industry specific talks.

We involved SME’s as well as big corporate organisations, giving them a unique chance to meet students at their university. Recruiting students and recent graduates through universities can be tricky for many companies (due to a lack of recruitment budget) but this put all companies on a level playing field. Most importantly, it allowed students & graduates to explore a diverse range of working environments, something careers fairs rarely offer.

The feedback was amazing from students, graduates, and employers, finding the whole day inspiring and helpful. We will share the feedback when we have finished collating it!

Students left with a goodie bag filled with more than sweets and business cards, we partnered with a variety of organisations to make sure the bags were fun but also useful. Some of the contents included a free LinkedIn Hack Pack (from us) – a guide to creating a 100% complete LinkedIn profile and making it pop, a free eBook on easy recipes, cupboard essentials and tips for cooking on a budget, a world scratch map to document travels, discount codes on various items e.g. business cards, bamboo cutlery etc. Not to blow our own trumpet but the goodie bags were the best we’ve ever seen, especially at a careers fair! Thank you to all who contributed.

Would you like to see something similar at your university or organisation? 😁
