Flavour of the Month: Energising Green Smoothie

 
Green drinks (either juiced or blended) are an easy way to consume a ton of nutrients that benefit your mind and body. But let’s face it, some of them are just gross! Jess, our very own nutrition expert, has concocted a clean, green citrus blend that tastes delicious AND gives you energy. Perfect for a speedy breakfast or a refreshing boost later in the day.

 

Energising Green Smoothie

Serves: 1

Smoothie ingredients - fruit
 

Ingredients

2x large oranges

½ grapefruit

½ lime

½ lemon

Large handful of frozen pineapple

Large handful of baby spinach

1 tbsp hemp seeds
Smoothie ingredients

1 tsp spirulina
 

Method

  1. Cut all of the fruit in half to make it easier to juice.
  2. Using a juicer, extract the liquid from all of the juice.
    If you don’t have a juicer, use a blender; you can strain the drink through a fine mesh sieve (or even a clean tea towel!) if you want less fibre.
  3. Add the liquid, frozen pineapple, hemp seeds and spirulina into a blender.
  4. Blend until smooth*.

 
*Sometimes frozen fruit can make the mixture turn quite slushy, so if this happens just add a little bit of water or plant-based milk to break it up!
